Agenda
Send
your Website to Stormy at the AWSC office.
There
have been a number of wrong addresses sent in to the AWSC office. Make sure your name and address match in the
DNR system and your club or it will get kicked back.
The Alliance found out in August, that the village of Winneconne was concerned about damage caused by snowmobiles this last year. Village government representatives wanted a meeting or they were going to shut down the trail through the village.
Damages
included scratches on the concrete on the new bridge. The issue is the whole south side of the
bridge was supposed to have a snowmobile friendly coating put on the
concrete. Due to cost issues the coating
only spans from water line to water line.
The ends of the bridge without the coating was scratched by carbides and
spikes.
There
were scratches to concrete in various places in the village along the
snowmobile route. Basketball court in
Marble Park was damaged. The court is
not near the trail and was in need of resurfacing prior to the snowmobile
damage.
WCSA
officers met with village government representatives and agreed to work with
the Winneconne Wolfrunners to protect these areas from further damage. Ideas were discussed during the alliance
meeting on how to best protect the bridge.
Ideas included rubber belting laid down on the bridge to protect the
concrete and snow fence in residential areas to keep snowmobiles on the trail. Belting 4 ft in width would be ideal. It is estimated the west end of the bridge
could take a piece 60 yards in length, and east end would need 40 yards. Mark Bombinski will check on the leftover
fence from the nationals. Michaels
Quarry would be a good candidate to see if they would have any belting to
donate.
There will be reroute through the village on 9th street south to Riverview Drive. This is a more direct route with less turning.
Jason
proposed spending some Alliance money on snow fence and other materials to
prevent damage to city and residential property. No numbers were discussed. Just trying to gauge interest.
Supplemental
paid out at 50%. The payout will be sometime
in October. There may be a second check
but not sure of percentage or when it would be paid out.
The
wet weather this year has resulted in lot of fields that did not get
planted. This could result in more
winter wheat being planted across the county.
Please remind your clubs to keep up with SNARS reporting. SNARS should be filled out within two weeks
of doing work. Timely updates to SNARS
will not only ensure that clubs get the money that is owed them but will help
Rob Way from the county understand how much money is left in the budget. As the end of the season approaches Rob can
predict if money is left over for extra work projects.
Grooming
contracts are not ready. Contracts
should be available next month at the WCSA meeting. Make sure reimbursement checks are sent to
the right person in your club so they get cashed in a timely manner, otherwise
it could affect supplemental. Mike will
check if contracts can be scanned and emailed after signing, or if they can be
dropped off.
Committee
discussed a blowup of the Village of Winneconne on the map. We can mark each of the businesses on the
blowup portion or mark all of the business with one number which would allow
the road route to be shown better. Eureka
would benefit from a map blowup because Eureka is so small on the map. The committee doesn’t anticipate needing a
blowup for Omro because there are not as many businesses.
The
goal is to have a map proof ready for the October meeting and maps ready for
the November meeting.
Springbrook
is getting and add from West Side Tire.
Omro Driftbusters have been an active
for 50 years. They received a
certificate in the mail from the AWSC.
Received a check for $161.50
from the Winnebago County Fair for bartending on Thursday Night. Next year we have Friday night so we should
be busier. Some people in attendance
were not aware of this event.
WCSA meeting dates were set. They are:
Sept. 24th, Oct 22nd, Nov 26th, Dec 18th(Wed), Jan 28th, Feb 25th, and Mar
2nd. Additional meeting
reminders were requested. A week ahead
of time and a second one a day or two before would be ideal.
A request was made to add the meeting
minutes to the website. We could use a
volunteer to update the website. This
might be a good activity for a younger member of one of our clubs.
09/25/2019 Update: Jason updated the
website with all of our scheduled meetings for the 2019/2020 snowmobile
season. Minutes have been added through
our March 2019 meeting. See the attached
link. http://winctysa.org/calendar/minutes/
Jason will be teaching a snowmobile/atv safety class the second week of December. The Drifters will be teaching a class on December 4th and 7th.
A request was made for a sno patrol update from the
sheriff’s department? Duane Luker will
put some numbers together.
A question was asked if the bridge in Winneconne
could be groomed? It would require a
small narrow groomer. Skippy from
Springbrook has a small groomer used to groom the Springbrook trail. Jeff Miller will check with Skippy to see if
he would be interested.
At 8:40 PM, a motion to adjourn was made and
approved. Next meeting is October 22nd,
2019.
Respectfully Submitted,
Jeff Miller
WCSA Vice President
WCSA Acting Secretary
